We all live in an uncertain world. The happennings of this world these days make us feel that whether we have hope for the future. Our future looks so dull to us. We are repeatedly taunted by many questions. One of the question that would keep coming in our mind these days is this. "What would happen if I lose my job?". Whereever we turn we hear news about thousands of people who have lost the jobs. We desperately try many things to save our jobs. We try to work overtime, we try to add value to our organisation in some way or the other to save our job. The job insecurity drives down a huge fear through our hearts. We think of starting a business, and plan many things to survive if job loss strikes us. Many financial empires have fallen in a moment. Whatever we considered as things that would secure our future have crumbled. All these make us more and more anxious. One day we feel so good, then something like a huge veil seems to cover us and there is no way out. Sometimes it is a slow process, but there is hope, and that hope is Jesus Christ. It is in and through Him that we are lifted up.
Very often the time we feel so cast down is the time that the Lord is pressing down so that He can get a firmer grip with which to lift us up. It is in God's timing, not ours, that He will lift us up. God is in control. We are His flock and the sheep of His pasture. I can say very frankly that these were my feelings before the Lord opened my eyes towards certain facts that set my mind free.
All the above situations may shake and rock a person who does not know the Lord Jesus Christ and put all his trust on the world but God calls His chosen people and says that "You need not worry about any of these things, because I am in control of this situation". We need to realize this solid fact. Nothing can happen in this world without God's knowledge and He has already promised that He would take care of all who trust in Him. "We dont know what our future holds for us, But we know who holds our future".
1 Peter 5:6-7 - "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (NIV)". What an assurance we have from this verse. We need to just humble ourselves before God and surrender all our problems to Him. He will take care of our problems and our future. If we put our trust on our money, gold, job, skills, education and materialistic things and forget God, our life will be very bitter and frustrating, but this is what many of us do.
A very famous chorus states like this.
"Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives."
Dear friends, Let us comit our future into God's hand. Let us not be shaken by these situations. Situations might change but God never changes. These are the times that we need to draw closer to God. He does not want us to try solving our problems. He is the answer for all our problems. All the questions that our life poses could only be answered by God, because He created us and the world. Let us make our burden light by leaning on and trusting God. God bless you!
