I want to discuss a very important topic today with a simple illustration. We all know about pigs. Pigs are always found in mire. They are dirty and always like to be in dirty surroundings. Whenever a pig walks on the road, if it finds a mire nearby, it jumps into the mire and enjoys that environment.
This is how we lived before we accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as our savior and received our gift of salvation. David says in Psalms 40:2
"He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand. "
This is how we lived before we accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as our savior and received our gift of salvation. David says in Psalms 40:2
"He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand. "
Jesus Christ lifted us out of the dirty life that we were living once. We did not come out of it, but it was God's grace and mercy that took us out. God changed us from living like pigs into lambs. Let us look at the characteristics of a lamb. Lamb is first of all innocent. It always follows the shephered. It likes clean surroundings. Even if it is pushed into mire, it gets out of it immediately.
This is the difference that we can find in our life if we are born again truly. Not just for namesake, but I mean being born again with true repentence and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the good shephered. The world may still push us into the dirty mire, but we would get out of the dirt immediately by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Let us keep this in mind through out our life. Hebrews 2:3 says "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation". We received salvation not by any of our works, but by the greatest sacrifice of God for us. It is too great a thing to be rejected. A time is coming where God would throw all who have not received salvation into hell. It would be even greater agony on the day of judgement for people who received salvation and then lost it for the pleasures of this world.
Let us not take the grace of God lightly. We need to pay the ultimate price if we reject God's free offer of salvation. Don't wait for tommorow. We never know whether we would get a tommorow. All that we have is now. "Now is the time of salvation". Accept Jesus Christ today and receive the glorious expericence of salvation.
