Trapped in debt - Part 1

We all have to work in this world in order to run our living. This is one of the punishments that God gave Adam after he sinned against God.Genesis 3 :17 says
"Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat of it
all the days of your life. "

We like it or not, the fact is that we need to work in this world to run our daily lives. There are different sorts of work that we can do in this world to make a living. We could work as doctors, engineers, scientists etc..or in the industry segments like finance, IT, mechanical etc..

Let us analyze as on what basis we chose our jobs. Is it due to passion for a particular job? or due to compulsion and family circumstances we forgot our passions and landed on jobs that paid us more.

I guess most of us chose certain jobs only for the sake of earning more. We might have dreamt to become a musician, but would have landed in IT or finance as there were hefty pay checks. When the market conditions were favorable, greed entered us and we purchased many things beyond our capability through various means of credit. We lived a life or luxury. Our body got used to luxury and what we forgot was the fact that it was somebody else's money (loans etc) that we have used for our flamboyant lifestyles.

We are so used to air conditioners, luxury cars and other materialistic things that we cannot even think of a life without these. We are now trapped in the pit of debts.
Let this be on one side. On the other side, we don't find our work interesting because we landed into these jobs only for money. We cannot even make a career change because we need to pay huge EMI's every month. What a pathetic state we find ourselves?.

During the times of recession, it is a different story altogether. We are sometimes forced to leave our jobs. Sometimes the very anxious thought of losing our jobs on seeing the happenings around us drives us mad. We hate to even think of living a life without the luxuries that we are used to. Amidst all these we think of a lot of plans like starting a business, doint this...that..but finally nothing materializes. Oh what a terrible thing to be in such a state....

I will write more on this later...
